Virtual Care is rightfully here to stay because of its undeniable advantages. Healthcare systems around the world have begun implementing virtual care in many areas of healthcare provision and so it has developed as individual projects in different departments.

Healthcare systems have established virtual care according to the rising demands and hence it has resulted in a variety of different solutions whose operating modes differ from each other and are rarely managed by a telehealth team. This leads to many issues like workflow fragmentation and inconvenient user experience.

Both providers and patients face difficulties when making use of different platforms which requires many registrations, logins, etc which result in more work than less and hence beats the very purpose of virtual care. These platforms should support workflow but in reality, the differences between them create workflow fragmentation and inefficiency. This is a major disadvantage in healthcare since it’s a question of life and death.

Data analysis from these platforms becomes very difficult since it may be in different formats. Manual interpretation becomes therefore necessary, which makes it a labor, cost, and time-intensive work. Healthcare systems would benefit more from an integrated system in virtual care than a departmental one.
